Have you completed MVCSD Registration?
If you have not completed online registration and taken care of school fees, please do so as soon as possible. It is very important that we have the most updated information and online permissions. Reminder: You will not receive future school announcements or emergency notifications if all PowerSchool accounts are not updated through online registration.
Just a reminder that the school needs a parent contact for all student absences. If your student is absent, please contact our office at 319-895-6251 or email the elementary office at firstname.lastname@example.org. Our absence line is available 24 hours a day for you to leave a message. We very much appreciate the communication.
School attendance is one of the most important aspects of school success. Research confirms that regular attendance enhances student achievement and learning. Parents partner with MVCSD staff to encourage regular school attendance for all MVCSD students. Did you know that students who miss 18 or more days in a school year for any reason – just 10% – are considered chronically absent, which can hurt their academic achievement and put them at-risk of dropping out? See more at: www.boostattendance.org. The school day begins at 8:15 AM. Teachers take attendance at that time. To eliminate disruption and minimize the repetition of class instruction, please have your child in the classroom at 8:15.
On August 24, passes were distributed to those students who purchased them through registration. From this point forward, please contact the office if you now purchase a pass so we are sure to get it to your child. Activity passes MUST be shown for admittance to each home event. Students without activity passes will need to pay to get in to the event. State-sponsored post-season athletic events (i.e. playoff/tournament games) always require payment for admittance for ALL students.
Kitchen & Associate Substitute List
Washington Elementary is looking for substitutes for kitchen workers and for classroom/student associate positions. The kitchen hours would be 10:30 AM-1:30 PM. The classroom/student associate position would be 8:00 AM-3:15 PM. Both of these are flexible positions and work great with school children's schedules. Please contact Denise Havill at 319-895-6251 if you would be interested in being added to our substitute list.
